Faculty & Staff
OSTM is proud of its faculty and staff. Each instructor is fully trained in his/her respective field, with years of experience and successful private practices. They also each have a unique style and diversity in their expertise that enhances our well-rounded program. All staff members have also been carefully selected to help create a successful educational experience.
Jeannette Pastore, BA
Jeannette Pastore relocated to New York from outside of Boston almost two decades ago. She comes to OSTM with a Bachelor’s from St. Lawrence University. In 2009, Jeannette transitioned from the private sector into higher education, which has always been her passion. She has been a member of the OSTM family since 2013 with prior experience in assisting students through admissions, career services, and student services processes. Knowing how a commitment to lifelong learning has helped her journey of self-discovery in life, she enjoys guiding students down the path toward their goals. When she is not working with students or supporting OSTM staff and faculty, Jeannette loves to catching up on Doctor Who, digging through her ever growing stack of books, and trying new restaurants with her husband. She wilts without sun, therefore, she spends as much time as possible outdoors working in the garden, and going on hikes with her dogs, Sid and Nancy.
Zhenya Muravyova, BA
Zhenya Muravyova graduated from Syracuse University with a B.A. in Writing and Rhetoric and English Textual Studies. She is a resident of the Zen Center of Syracuse actively undergoing Zen Buddhist training. When she is not writing, reading, and meditating she enjoys exploring the wilderness, watching horror movies and k-dramas, as well as tasting the world one meal at a time. Jaquawn Holloway, AAS
Financial Aid Administrator
Jaquawn Holloway is a Syracuse native. He earned his degree in Liberal Arts at Onondaga Community College, where he was a member of Toastmasters. Shortly after graduating he found that he loved the health and fitness field and went on to become a Certified Personal Trainer. Jaquawn has a passion for helping others and enhancing their lives so they may become their best selves. He is currently a member of the New York Army National Guard as a Human Resource Specialist where he supports soldiers. In his spare time, he really enjoys spending time with his wife and friends, looking for adventurous ways to stay active, reading, training and working on his athletic apparel business Regal Athletics, which is another way he tries to inspire others to stay positive and motivated with a simple message of “earn your crown”.
Lael Pierce, BA
Student Services Director
Lael Pierce has spent the last five years serving students in several capacities including Admissions, Coaching and Academic Support. Her desire to improve the lives of students began immediately after she received her Bachelor of Science degree from Utica College, where she worked to recruit students from underserved communities. Since joining the healing community at OSTM, she has learned the importance of consistent self-care and enjoys encouraging her students and family to do the same. She is committed to public service and enjoys learning, traveling, hiking, fitness, dining out and spending time with friends and family.
Misty D’Eredita, BA
Registrar & Bursar
After receiving her BA in Liberal Studies from Southampton College, Misty D’Eredita went on to study Eastern Medicine at the NY College of Health Professions. She has been instructing fitness classes, including yoga and Pilates, for over ten years and is a Beachbody certified PiYo instructor. Misty is solar powered so spends much of her time outside hiking with her dogs, reading in the sun, kayaking, and exploring waterfalls with her daughter, Autumn. She is currently pursuing Reiki training and believes in the power of spreading small acts of kindness.
Karen Fresina has lived in Central New York most of her life. She studied Interior Design at Onondaga Community College and has taken courses in medical coding and medical terminology. Before coming to OSTM she worked for Orthopedic Surgeons in the medical records department. She joined the OSTM team in 2010, starting on the evening shift and was promoted to the position of Office Manager. Karen loves her job as it offers a variety of duties, some which include scheduling clients for our massage clinic, managing our bookstore and assisting other staff members. She always has a smile to greet everyone who at the Syracuse campus and she enjoys the opportunity to get to know our students and clients. Karen likes spending time with her family and has two sons and two grandsons. She’s taught Sunday school for children ages 2- 6 for many years. She also supports an organization that rescues women and children from human trafficking.
Debbie DeJesús, AAS

Debbie De Jesús graduated in 2009 from Onondaga Community College with an Associates of Science in Criminal Justice. She currently works as an Evening Office Administrator nights at OSTM. In her free time she likes to ride her motorcycle, and go for walks with her Chihuahua named Shaky.
Shannon McMahon, AAS
Evening Office Administrator
Shannon McMahon is a graduate of Bryant & Stratton College with an AAS degree in Accounting. She dedicates a few nights a week working as an Evening Office Administrator here at OSTM. She always has a positive attitude and is willing to give her time and energy to make others feel good! In her free time, Shannon enjoys shopping, traveling, spending time outdoors, and playing with her two dogs.
Theodore Baldini, DC, MSACN, CNS, ICCSP
Myology & Pathology Instructor
Dr. Baldini received his Chiropractic and Masters of Science in Applied Clinical Nutrition degrees from New York Chiropractic College. He is board certified by the Certification Board for Nutrition Specialists, and holds the designation of Certified Nutrition Specialist. He has 14 years of experience working in critical care and emergency medicine as a respiratory therapist, and is currently the executive managing partner for Seneca Chiropractic & Family Wellness’s four locations in Syracuse, NY. He consults on a wide range of conditions with evidence-based nutritional interventions. He is an adjunct instructor at the Onondaga School of Therapeutic Massage where he currently teaches Myology and has also taught Pathology. He also is an adjunct at Huntington College of Health Sciences where he teaches in the Masters of Science in Nutrition Program. Dr. Baldini holds an International Certified Chiropractic Sports Practitioner certification and is a staff Chiropractor and nutritional consultant for the AHL Syracuse Crunch hockey team/NHL Tampa Bay Lighting Affiliate. He is also an avid lecturer on many topics and is currently working on a review paper regarding the nutritional co-management of asthma.
Alisha Calkins, LMT

Alisha Calkins graduated from the Onondaga School of Therapeutic Massage in 2012. She has had an affinity for massage from a very young age. Alisha makes it her goal to ensure a mix of relief and relaxation to each of her clients, and she customizes her massages based on her clients’ unique needs. Her massages result in a well-balanced and intensely cared for body and soul. She began her yoga teacher training in Costa Rica in 2015, and she completed her training in 2016. She shares a deep connection with yoga and wellness. When she’s not giving massages you will find her doing yoga anywhere she possibly can or at home with her two German shepherds.
John Capozzi, LMT
John Capozzi is a graduate of Boulder College of Therapeutic Massage in Boulder Colorado. He is also a former massage instructor at the Utah College of Massage Therapy, and is currently teaching Swedish, Treatments and Sports Massage at the Onondaga School of Therapeutic Massage at our Syracuse Campus. In private practice, John works at work at High Point Chiropractic Wellness and focuses on decreasing pain and restoring clients’ proper posture. John is skilled in trigger point therapy, structural body-work, and connective deep tissue massage. He is also certified in prenatal massage and Maya abdominal therapy (visceral manipulation). He has experience treating and achieving results with: Plantar fascitis, Sciatica, whiplash, Thoracic outlet syndrome, Rotator cuff injury and TMJ. John loves to treat his clients the whole body to restore wellness and improve clients’ body mechanics. John is an avid outdoorsman who loves skiing and running. While conquering the great outdoors, he once took on a pack of coyotes to save his beloved family dog, named Osita.
Mike Ciszewski, LMT
Clinic Director & Hands-On Instructor
Mike Ciszewski graduate from the Onondaga School of Therapeutic Massage as class valedictorian in 2011 from the six month program. Mike subsequently joined the OSTM team as a MYO tutor who has helped many students improve their study skills and their understanding of the body. He then transitioned into the role of Clinic Director and Hands-On Instructor, teaching both Swedish and Treatments classes. In practice, he specializes in deep tissue and medical massage, aiming to bring out his clients’ optimal general and muscular health, whether their goal is to just relax or to help alleviate pain. In his spare time he enjoys watching sports (GO SU!), reading, and playing video games.
Laura Hannett, LMT
Anatomy & Physiology & Pathology Instructor
Laura Hannett, is a graduate of Hamilton College and the College of William and Mary, as well as a 2003 OSTM alum. She lives in Dewitt with her husband and two amazing children, and works at Elan Therapeutic Massage in Liverpool. She has been teaching Anatomy & Physiology at OSTM since 2009, later adding Pathology. Laura loves to share her enthusiasm for the sciences, adding both instructional videos and other activities to her students’ classroom learning experience.
Kyle Hierholzer, LMT BCTMB CPT CR
Kyle is a graduate of the Onondaga School of Therapeutic Massage (June 2011) in Syracuse, NY. He graduated Valedictorian, with a 4.0 GPA and was a member of the “Cerebral Hemisphere Club” for Academic Excellence in the Sciences. Kyle also volunteers for the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) Board of Directors as Secretary & Unit Operations Chair by coordinating all continuing education offerings throughout NY State. Kyle specializes in chronic and acute pain care management and has received specialized training in Oncology, Orthopedic, Reflexology, Sports & Medical Massage as an alumni of the Mayo Clinic (2012). In 2016 Kyle completed his Personal Training Certification & Corrective Exercise Specialist education with the National Academy of Sports Medicine. He now offers one-on-one or group personal training session and health/nutrition consultations as a TLS Health Coach. Having a passion for working with athletes, he organizes massage services for the Syracuse Ironman 70.3, Mountain Goat Run, and Tour de Cure in conjunction with the AMTA Sports Massage Team and Community Service Outreach Team. In his free time, Kyle enjoys spending time outdoors with his Black Lab, Jozie.
Pamela McGrath, LMT
Pamela McGrath is a graduate of the Onondaga School of Therapeutic Massage who has been working as a Massage Therapist since 1998. Before Massage, Pam studied Visual Art at Syracuse University and spent a decade pursuing art in its many forms: Visual , Music, Dance and Writing. For employment, she has worked in an inclusive Pre-Kindergarten setting running an after school program where her interest in the arts was translated in the facilitation of creativity for little people. Massage took the forefront of her employment in 1998 as yet another creative medium, yet, this time it was for healing the body mind and soul. Pam has a private massage practice. In addition to teaching, Pam pursues an active creative life, as well as raising her two children.
Tammie Miller, LMT
Tammie Miller graduated from the Onondaga School of Therapeutic Massage in 2006. She has since studied Myofascial Release techniques, Cranial Sacral therapies, energetic modalities, as well as other various hands on modalities. Tammie grew up wanting to heal the world, now she helps one person at a time through massage. She loves what she does and that makes all the difference. Tammie feels the world needs more healers! When Tammie isn’t massaging or teaching future healers, she loves to garden (her vegetables are LEGENDARY) and play with her dogs, Roscoe and Moonshine.
Colleen Ney, LMT
Business and Law Instructor
Colleen Ney is a native of CNY and has been a Massage Therapist for 10 years. She focuses, in particular, on Medical massage and CranioSacral therapies. She possesses several certifications in different dynamic massage modalities that include; Cupping Therapy, Lymphatic Drainage, Reflexology, Prenatal, Medical, Deep Tissue, Myofascial, Biodynamic and Upledger: Craniosacral Therapy. Her true passion is CranioSacral Therapy (CST); treating conditions where physical and emotional dysfunction affects our structure and all parts of Central Nervous System. She finds this work with her clients to be very exciting and rewarding. She has worked with New York Spine and Wellness Center, currently works with CNY Healing Arts and Fertility Clinic, and she has a successful private practice in her spare time. She has also had a long storied career in the Arts that has taken her to many amazing parts of the world! Aside from teaching massage, business skills, and law and ethics, Colleen has taught Design and Drawing as well as Surface Pattern Design at Syracuse University and Rochester Institute of Technology. She has had success with her art being shown in international exhibitions. Colleen is a dynamic teacher who is very happy to be a part of the faculty at OSTM!
Meg Stephens, MFA
Anatomy & Physiology Instructor
Meg Stephens graduated from SUNY Potsdam with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology and a Bachelor’s of Art in Studio Art with an Environmental Studies minor. She went on to combine these two fields of study at RIT’s Medical Illustration Masters of Fine Arts program, where she studied human anatomy while taking illustration courses. She’s also a freelance artist whose work ranges from digital illustration for graphic novels, to jewelry, to painting and drawing. Her favorite subject matter is animals, and her pets are often her “models.” Meg owns – or rather, is owned by – a cat, a bearded dragon, a rabbit, a parakeet, and many fish.
David J. Stevens, DC, BPS, ICCSP
Myology & Pathology Instructor
Dr. Stevens was born in Syracuse, NY and attended Cicero-North Syracuse High School. He then received an Associate of Science degree from Onondaga Community College. After attending Onondaga Community College, he went on to receive a Bachelor of Professional Studies and Doctor of Chiropractic degree from New York Chiropractic College. Along with working as a member of the healthcare team at Seneca Chiropractic & Family Wellness, Dr. Stevens is an evening instructor at the Onondaga School of Therapeutic Message where he teaches Myology and Pathology. Dr. Stevens has completed a certification as an International Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician and is a staff chiropractor for the AHL Syracuse Crunch hockey team/NHL Tampa Bay Lightning affiliate.
Steve McElligott, M. Ed
Steve is a Rochester, NY native who attended the State University at Brockport and earned Bachelors in Special Education. Steve continued his education at St. John Fisher College where he earned a Master’s degree in Educational Administration & Leadership. Steve has taught in area school districts and local community colleges for over ten years and held leadership positions at area human service agencies for individuals with developmental disabilities. Steve was fortunate to be involved in a New York State grant where Therapeutic Massage was used to assist individuals with Autism manage their sensory stimulation. Steve has been with the Onondaga School of Therapeutic Massage since 2016 and has held the positions of Director of Student Services and Campus Director.
Theresa Shaw, LMT
Director of Admissions/Student Services
Licensed Massage Therapist and OSTM alumni Theresa Shaw is the Director of Admissions and Student Services Director for the Rochester campus. As a recent transplant from Central Florida, she has brought her special blend of sunshine to Upstate NY and continues to infuse a little bit of that sunshine into everything she does. A longtime specialist in the health and medical industry, Theresa left behind the humdrum office environment of billing and coding and enthusiastically adopted the practical and hands-on world of massage. When she isn’t providing a world-class treatment you can usually find her deep in a book, working renaissance festivals, outdoors capturing nature’s beauty in her camera, or volunteering at local pet rescue facilities
Jodi Brodner, LMT
Financial Aid Director
Jodi graduated from the New York Institute of Massage and became a NYS Licensed Massage Therapist in 2000. She began working as an LMT at a Chiropractors office and a spa before opening her own practice and joining OSTM in 2004. She began her career at OSTM as the Clinic Director and in 2016 moved into the Financial Aid Director position. Today Jodi’s massage practice thrives with her massage clients enjoying their massages in her massage bus which she drives to their homes in order to massage them.
Registrar & Bursar
Maryjo or MJ has been part of the OSTM family for the past fifteen years. She started as the office manager and currently holds the position of Registrar/Bursar. She is a graduate of Genesee Community college, and a member of Phi Theta Kappa. MJ, is also a certified personal trainer and has a passion for health & fitness. In 2011 she competed in her first natural figure completion and took first place in the amateurs division and second overall. MJ lives in Irondequoit, NY and enjoy cross training and spending time with family and friends.
Office Manager & Admissions Representative
Originally from the beautiful state of Hawaii, Caitlin began working at OSTM in 2015 as the Evening Receptionist, and then moved to the Front Office Manager and Admissions Representative in 2017. She greets each student and visitor with a warm smile, and brightens the day of those she works with. Caitlin’s artistic interests drew her to take classes in Dark Room Photography and Advertising/Marketing. In her free time Caitlin has volunteered countless hours at Webster Comfort Care Home working with hospice patients. She is a knitting enthusiast and is currently in training to become a tattoo artist.
Evening Office Administrator
Alex comes to OSTM with several years of customer service and front end experience. He also has years of experience in the hospitality and human services field. Alex’s professional demeanor and accommodating approach to assisting students and clients have the best possible experience during our public massage clinic. When Alex isn’t at OSTM, he can be found puttering around a woodworking project, on air at Jazz 90.1fm (on Saturday nights, 9-11pm), or out dancing.
- Vanessa Kinney – Relief Office Administrator
Gail Valente is a 2001 alumni of Onondaga School of Therapeutic Massage where she has stayed and taught business classes and is currently OSTM’s Student Clinic Director. Her success and longtime experience in running her own business the Retreat House Massage and Wellness Center has provided her with the tools to successfully instruct many class that have come though the school and are now successful massage therapists all over the country.
Gail specializes in massage for those with fibromyalgia and other painful conditions. With an interest in chronic pain conditions, Gail has extensive training in Medical Massage as well as Myofascial Pain Release treatments that are especially helpful for lower back and neck pain. Gail is a Kripalu trained Foot Reflexologist. Her passion for this healing modality has led her to become a Faculty Assistant in Kripalu’s Foot Reflexology Training Program. She enjoys bringing the peace and meditative focus of her yoga practice to her healing massage work and her teaching style here at OSTM. When Gail is not working at the school she enjoys spending time with her grandchildren and family.
Kate is OSTM’s Treatment massage instructor. Kate brings a positive attitude and atmosphere every day that she comes to the school. Her experience from running her own successful massage therapy practice, Ki Energy Works, is a positive influence on the students. When she is not here molding the young minds of future massage therapists, she enjoys spending time with her husband and her kids.
Dr. Philip Dodge, OSTM’s Pathology Instructor, is a New York State certified doctor of chiropractic medicine. He has been practicing since 2000 and has recently started his own practice in Fairport, NY.
Dr. Dodge is a native to the Southern Tier – he grew up in Canisteo, NY. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from SUNY Buffalo. Dr. Dodge received his Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine in Georgia from Life University School of Chiropractic.
In addition to his practice, Dr. Dodge teaches Pathology and Physiology classes at RIT and Nazareth in addition to designing the curriculum her at OSTM. Dr. Dodge currently resides in Victor, NY with his wife, Kathleen and their three children – Ryan, Allison and Makayla.
Dr. Eaton is OSTM’s Human Anatomy & Physiolgy and Pathology Instructor and has been a practicing chiropractor for almost ten years. He grew up in Central New York, received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from SUNY Albany and received his Doctorate of Chiropractic from New York Chiropractic College in Seneca Falls. Dr. Eaton served the Boston, MA area for five years before following his desire to be closer to his family and moving to the Rochester area.
Since starting his practice in 2007, Dr. Eaton has worked hard to provide his patients and students with above-average care and support. In addition to his Gates office he also practices out of the Acupuncture Center in Lakeville, NY. Dr. Eaton has spent many years as a valued faculty member here at OSTM and his expertise in Chiropractic services and desire for each person to live a valuable and healthy life has positively influenced each and every student who has come through his class.
Wendy is an Alumni of OSTM and is the Swedish, Chair Massage and Pregnancy Massage Instructor. Wendy has been an Instructor here at OSTM since July 2006 and continues to spread her enthusiasm and passion for her chosen profession of massage therapy. Wendy’s knowledge and teaching style continues to grow with each new class and inspires the love and dedication that goes hand in hand with becoming a Licensed Massage Therapist.
Paula Schank teaches Shiatsu, Swedish Massage and Energy Work courses here at the Onondaga School of Therapeutic Massage. . Paula SCHANK. BS. LMT has been a licensed massage therapist since 1996. Spending those years of experience receiving training from places like the Ohashi Institute in New York, the Shiatsu Center in Toronto, and the Lokai Institute in Tokyo.
Paula teaches the art of Shiatsu and its principles of how it awakens internal healing. All of her training and experience in Shiatsu and Craniosacral Therapy complements her commitment to quality care, teaching style and compassionate touch. Paula’s wisdom and positive energy knowledge has imprinted on many graduates of OSTM allowing them to grow and move on to be amazing contributions to the massage therapy world.
15 Mo. Program Anatomy & Physiology Instructor
Kathryn teaches Human Anatomy and Physiology here at OSTM. Kathryn Lin Kubiak-Rizzone is a Rochester, New York based female physical therapist. Kathryn uses her vast experience and knowledge of physical therapy to evaluate and treat people with health problems resulting from injury or disease. She assess joint motion, muscle strength and endurance, function of heart and lungs, and performance of activities required in daily living, among other responsibilities. Treatment includes therapeutic exercises, cardiovascular endurance training, and training in activities of daily living which she translates into her teaching here at OSTM. When Kathryn is not working at her practice or teaching here at OSTM she enjoys spending time with her family.
Dr. Smith is a graduate of New York Chiropractic College in Seneca Falls, NY. He has worked with the Buffalo Gladiators semi-pro football team and was a member of the National Ski Patrol since 1985. Dr. Smith is OSTM’s Anatomy and Physiology and Myology Instructor in the evenings. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family and doing outdoor activities such as sailing, kayaking, biking, hiking and even salsa dancing.
Dr. Henby is the Evening Pathology Instructor here at OSTM. Dr. Henby’s belief in Chiropractic work and education is based on the idea that the human body is capable if healing itself from most disease. We have been around on this planet for about 200,000 years long before modern medicine and Chiropractic work. For that reason, our bodies have adapted to survive through the harshest of climates, terrible diseases and elementary school holiday concerts. Through evolution and experiences over the years we have found ways to keep us healthy, avoid sickness and hasten recovery from countless injuries and diseases. Dr. Henby translates these beliefs and his vast knowledge to his students here at OSTM.
Maritza Teaches Chair, Pregnancy and Sports Massage here at OSTM. Her belief that beauty lies in a healthy mind, body and spirit makes her dedicated to providing quality massage and education in overall wellness her at OSTM. Her bright and enthusiastic energy towards her students creates a positive atmosphere in her classes. When Maritza is not teaching here at OSTM she works as a massage therapist at Wellsprings Massage Therapy.
Don Trott, LMT

Jeffery Giannopoulos, a 2013 OSTM Alumni, currently assists Wendy Kiedrowski, LMT instructing Swedish Massage classes here at OSTM. Jeffery received his Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science from the State University of New York College in Brockport.
Jeffery’s passions for helping others, creative problem solving skills and attention to detail has made him a great addition to our faculty here at the school. His compassion for people and his students results in students graduating with the proper skills and wisdom to becoming successful licensed massage therapists.
